Happy Birthday Ellen!

So today is Ellen's birthday and she is 53. I think you all already know how much I love Ellen. I'm sorry if it gets old how much I talk about her. But really, attending her talk show is totally at the top of my bucket list! As if she'd ever see this, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLEN!

The Nie Nie Dialogues

Back in September, the BYU Women's Services and Resources announced Recapturing Beauty, a campaign to "reshape [women's] ideas and attitudes about beauty away from those promoted in our popular culture."

To kick off the campaign, Stephanie Nielson, author of the Nie Nie Dialogues, was invited to speak at BYU. I think the majority of my readers know who Stephanie is. For those who don't, very long story short, in August 2008 she and her husband were in a plane crash. Stephanie suffered burns on over 80% of her body and was kept in a medically-induced coma for the next 10 weeks.

She speaks more about her experience in the talk she gave entitled "Finding and Loving Your Beauty." You can watch it here (it's probably about 45 minutes long so you may need to make some time for it - trust me, it's worth it!). Stephanie is such a strong and inspirational woman. I hope her talk touches you all the way it touched me. It definitely made me teary, but that's no surprise for those that know me :)

Mellow Yellow

Anyone who knows me well, knows that my absolute favorite color is yellow, specifically pale yellow! I get emails from Crate & Barrel pretty often because we registered there back when we got married. Today's email had this set of dishes in several different colors. I told Trent that someday we'll have this yellow set! I love how cheery it is :)

Christmas Candy

A few days before Christmas Trent's mom invited us all to her place to make Christmas candy. It was a little while ago now, but I have a few pictures so I figured I'd put them on.

We made seven different goodies. Fudge, caramel popcorn, peanut butter bon bons, butter brittle, chocolate truffles, chocolate dipped pretzels, and holiday bread. We all took so much home with us..haha. Chocolate overload!

So that I have it written down for myself, one of my New Year's resolutions is to keep up with my journal. Obviously I am supposed to write it in everyday, but lately I get totally behind and have to go back and catch up. It's such a pain! So for this year I am making a goal to write in it every day and not get behind! It won't be easy for me, but it can be done :)
