Sarah's Wedding/High School Reunion ;)

Last week Jenn and I headed back to Virginia for the wedding of one of our closest friends in high school, Sarah. We flew in Wednesday afternoon/evening, the 21st. Of course Jenn was flying in from Salt Lake and I was flying in from Phoenix. She got in a few hours before I did, so she and Jordan (cousin) came to pick me up around 7 and we immediately headed to Tyson's mall to meet up with a friend, Colleen, for dinner. We were meeting up with Colleen at Shake Shack and were pleasantly surprised to run into our cousin Sarah before she arrived! Such a coincidence!

Not a flattering shot of me, but it has to be documented ;)

We got to stay with my aunt Cindy. We have such great memories at the Lund's from growing up, so it's always so fun to come back! Jordan, Dane, and their kids, Adler and Ettley, are living in the basement so that was an added bonus :)

Thursday we had an easygoing morning and then went to lunch with Jordan and her kids at Nordstrom Cafe.

Jenn got this shot before we headed out. I was FaceTiming with my kids :) And there's cutie Ettley!

We browsed Nordstrom some afterward and Adler ended up with 3 balloons! Here he is running off..haha.

We had to check out the fish as well :)

Dane's parents were in town as well because his brother graduated from the FBI so they headed off to celebrate that, so Jenn and I had some time to kill on our own. We decided to head down to Georgetown. We hadn't tried Georgetown Cupcake before so that was our priority ;)

We had heard there's often a line so we didn't think anything of it when we got there, but then, come to find out, they were closed for 2 hours filming for TLC's The Little Couple! Luckily it had already been about an hour when we got there, so we *only* had to wait an hour. We had to sign a waiver and have our picture taken in case we show up on t.v.! I seriously doubt we will, but it airs in about 2 months if anyone spots us..haha.

They were letting people order and pay for their cupcakes while waiting, but we really wanted to go in since this was our first time, so we waited it out.

They were celebrating their little girl's 5th birthday!

Jenn was able to get a few pictures since we made it to the very front of the line. They're not great pictures, but here you can see the dad.

Here's the son and mom leaving.

We got 6 cupcakes - the milk chocolate birthday, vanilla birthday, chocolate salted caramel, and mint cookies & creme and then we got the chocolate squared and red velvet for Cindy and Jordan :)

Cute Georgetown.

Back at the Lund's with our beautiful cupcakes :)

My favorite ended up being the chocolate salted caramel, top right corner, but they were all divine!

We headed out a little later to go pick up our gifts for Sarah (we didn't want to have to fly them across the country).

Friday we met up with Sarah (bride) and Shannon (maid of honor) for brunch at La Madeleine at Tyson's. Amy and Jeannine were supposed to be there as well, but Jeannine's red eye was delayed and she had to spend the night in the Denver airport and didn't get in until after brunch. We were happy Amy could join us in the beginning, but then she had to head off to pick up Jeannine. We were so sorry that that happened :/

It was so fun to catch up with Sarah and Shannon for a few hours before Sarah's big day! Before we parted ways we even all went down and had our rings cleaned..haha. So crazy that we're all married now!

We shopped around a little bit and then headed back to the Lund's for an hour or so. Then we headed to my Aunt Karen and Uncle Mark's for their weekly pizza night with their kids and grandkids. We got to see our cousins Sarah, William, and Stephen for a few minutes before they headed out. It was a lot of come and go!

Karen's college roommate, Cindy, and her husband were in town for the BYU game, so we spent most of our time chatting with them and hearing of all of their adventures over the years :)

We made it back to the Lund's around 8:30 and got to chat with Cindy for a bit before Jordan and Dane got back. Later we watched The Proposal with Jordan, so fun!

Saturday was wedding day! We didn't need to be to Sarah's wedding until 2, which was so nice because we could sleep in (we had a late night) and have plenty of time to still get ready.

The ceremony took place at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. This was our first time attending a Catholic wedding and it was neat to catch some of the similarities to a Mormon wedding.

It was so great to see all of our high school friends again! Jenn and Jeannine were cracking up b/c they live like half an hour from each other in Utah, but hadn't seen each other in months and had to fly across the country to make it happen ;)

Shannon was the most beautiful maid of honor. Just loved her dress!

High school reunion minus the bride :)

We had like 2 hours to kill after the ceremony, before the reception, so Jenn and I headed back to Lund's real quick so that Jenn could change into a more comfortable dress. Then we met up with everyone at Maggie's parents' to munch and mingle some :) Thank you for setting that up Maggie!

We headed to The Barns at Wolf Trap for the reception at 5. I forgot to mention at the very beginning of this post, but Jenn was the photographer ;) Pretty much all of the pictures in this post are hers (I did steal a few from Maggie as well!). I kept telling her she was the photographer and I was the blogger..ha.

The table settings.

Dinner was a buffet with 3 stations - varieties of sliders, tacos, and mac 'n' cheese. It was all so yummy!

Photobooth fun!

Mormons at an open bar reception. Shirley Temples all around ;)

Sarah shared a dance with her grandma, who is in her 90's :)

Instead of cake, Sarah and Mike had Oreos. The sign talks about how they'd buy each other Oreos when they'd lose a bet..ha. He prefers the Golden Oreos and she prefers the regular Oreos. We each got an Oreo and a milk shooter :)

I had to get a picture with the gorgeous bride one-on-one :)

Class of '06.

Sarah and the Mormons ;)

Sarah changed into her Harry Potter socks and wedge sneakers for the reception. And that is not Mike. I did not realize when I took this picture..haha.

From what I could tell, Sarah had wanted to have a sparkler send-off, but it was considered a fire hazard at Wolf Trap so they went with glow sticks instead.

The reception ended around 10:30 and then we actually headed over to Shannon's for a little bit to see their place. She and her husband, Jacob, have done lots of renovations on their town home and it was really neat to see/hear all of the work they've put into it!

Sunday, Jordan and I dropped off Jenn at the airport around 10:30 and then Jordan dropped me at the Harrison's. I got to go to Vienna Ward (home ward) with them and loved it. I only really knew a handful of families there because the ward has changed so much, but it was still so fun for me. AND they just happened to be having their Primary Program so I loved seeing how theirs turned out since ours was just the week before! And then Sarah (cousin) dropped me at the airport.

I'm so glad Jenn and I were able to make it out to Sarah's wedding. I have the best memories with Sarah from high school, some in particular from a beach trip I took with her and her parents one summer (sophomore year maybe?) ;) Love you Sarah and congratulations again!!

And thank you to my mom and Tanis and Kari (Lucas's mom) for helping with the kids W-F while Trent was at work. You all went above and beyond with them and they had SO much fun! And most importantly, thank you to Trent for holding down the fort and happily sending me on my way. I can only imagine how exhausting it was to work all day and then come home and care for the kids on his own. Thank you love!! I owe you big!!
