San Francisco Day 3 - Ghirardelli Square

Monday, September 2nd

We spent a few hours that morning at Ghirardelli Square, before we had to head to the airport.  Luckily it was just a few blocks down from our hotel :)

We had breakfast at Lori's Diner.

Our view from breakfast.  We were shocked that there were people out swimming laps in the bay.  It would be so cold!

After breakfast we checked everything out.

Here we got a complimentary Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Square.  I was skeptical whether I'd like it, but it was delicious!  There were so many different kinds in there and tons I didn't even know about.

We got Aiden a toy airplane (well seaplane) from this cute toy shop. We were kind of laughing that we didn't get ourselves any souvenirs, but we got something for Aiden ;)

We went on a little walking tour of the square.  This is a cocoa grinder.

I don't remember too much from the tour, but you can zoom into these pictures and read the info if you're interested ;)

The Mermaid Fountain - I guess it was a little controversial when they first put it there because the mermaids are breast feeding.

Had to stop in the Ghirardelli Chocolate Shop to get a famous hot fudge sundae before heading out.

So good!

In there we got to see the chocolate making process.

Then we headed out and made our way back to the hotel.

We tried to catch a final glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge, but it was fogged over, as usual.  It's fun, though, that you can see a whole bunch of swimmers in this picture.

We walked about a hundred feet, and I thought to turn around one last time, and the fog had lifted some!  We were pretty excited!

Very pretty.

We hurried back to our hotel for our shuttle that came at 11 and flew home.  It was nice that we got in fairly early (like 4:30) because we got to spend the evening with Aiden :)

We played outside for a while.  Aiden loves his new seaplane :)

It was so fun to be in San Francisco with Trent and we definitely plan to go back sometime!  During our trip we were mentioning how we feel like you almost have to visit a place at least twice because the first time you're really getting the feel of things, at least non-trip-planners like us ;)
